Returning from a two-year stint in the military, Hall of Famer Whtey Ford picked right up from where he left off, expanding on the 9-1 record from his 1950 rookie season to post an 18-6 mark in 1953. That began a string of 13 consecutive double-digit win campaigns in which Ford registered 223 wins to just 96 losses from 1953-65, topping the 20-win mark and leading the American League in ERA in 1956 and 1958 while taking the Cy Young Award in 1961. Ford gets reacquainted with the baseball in sharp detail on this 1953 Bowman Color card, sporting many NM/MT+ to MINT features to compensate for the mild positioning toward the right side. The reverse exhibits the usual toning that is almost standard for the issue but contains no serious defects of any kind. A very solid, and very tough, PSA 8 specimen from the difficult high-number series of one of baseball's most beloved collections.
