Hall of Famer Cy Young won more major-league baseball games (511) than any other player in history. Sure, he did it at a time when pitchers customarily had 45-55 starts per season as opposed to today's hurlers that throw 30-35 per year, but it makes the accomplishment no less impressive, especially since he completed 749 of his 815 career starts, almost 92%. He also won 20 or more games for 14 consecutive seasons and topped the 30-win mark five times. Young was already past the now impenetrable 500-win mark when the E98 series was released so it was no doubt one of the most popular examples in the collection (though the image is actually of pitcher Irv Young), but this amazing example has survived in near-perfect condition with an exalted grade of SGC 9 MINT. It can be argued that each of the four corners is GEM MINT with the only potential obstacles to SGC's top score being a very slight bias toward the bottom edge and a common shadow of red bleed-through from the front on the reverse. A thoroughly superior example of a Cooperstown immortal and a player that will forever be atop the record books in wins.
