Most baseball card collectors would agree that the 1952 Topps baseball card set is the most important of the post-war era. Topps' inaugural issue was a ground-breaking achievement in sports card collecting as it was the first to employ large size (2-5/8" by 3-3/4") cards, the first to incorporate colored team logos in the card design, and the first to display complete statistics for the previous year as well as the player's lifetime. The presented offering is a near-complete low-number run featuring 308 of the 310 cards (missing #177 and 281). In the first series, cards #1, 5, 17, 19, 22, 26, 32, 33, 36, 45, 48, 60, and 70 feature black backs. The group is 30% VG/EX or better, 40% VG and 30% lower with #1 Pafko POOR, 2 Runnels POOR, 11 Rizzuto POOR, 33 Spahn GOOD+, 36 Hodges EX, 37 Snider FAIR, 59 Roberts GOOD, 88 Feller VG+, 91 Schoendienst VG, 175 Martin POOR, 191 Berra POOR, 195 Minoso VG/EX, 216 Ashburn POOR, 243 Doby VG, 261 Mays POOR, 268 Lemon GOOD, and 277 Wynn GOOD.
