Just as his naysayers were writing him off as past his prime, the 32-year old Mickey Mante delivered a 35 homer, 111 RBI performance in 1964 that left him the runner-up in the American League MVP voting. Though his performance tailed off from there, Mantle gets to play the conquering hero one last time on this 1965 Topps card, a stunning PSA 8 example that flaunts a slightly right-leaning central image with strong NM/MT to MINT corners between NM/MT+ edges. The image of Mantle in his follow-through is sharply focused.
