The 1972 Topps football set is strong on rookie cards with Lyle Alzado, John Riggins, Archie Manning, Jim Plunkett, and the grand prize, Roger Staubach, all making their inaugural appearances that year. Compiling a complete set from this year is more formidable a task than one might expect due to the scarcity of the high-number cards issued in the third series. But the collection presented here is complete with 34 cards graded: PSA 9 MINT - #21, 89, 126 Riggins IA, 163, 206, 217, 235 Blanda, 252, 298, 309 Nobis, 326, 332 and 338 Spurrier IA. PSA 8 - #27, 50 F. Little, 73, 98, 120 Bradshaw IA, 127, 137, 157, 177, 190 B. Smith, 211, 240 L. Little, 251 Unitas IA, 263, 274, 283, 306, 323, and 331 Morris. PSA 7 - #139 and 150 Bradshaw. The rest of the set is 30% NM or better, 50% EX/MT, 15% EX and 5% lower with #13 Riggins NM, 55 Manning NM, 65 Plunkett NM+, 100 Namath NM/MT (OC), 165 Unitas NM, 200 Staubach EX+, 291 Spurrier EX (OC), 316 Wright NM, and 343 Namath IA EX.
