Far more scarce issue than his regular 1991 Topps card and one of the most important issues of the last 50 years, this Topps Desert Shield variety of Chipper Jones' popular rookie card was distributed exclusively in the middle east and not designated for sale in the states. The limited production, as well as the large majority of cards that were either damaged in the hot summer sun or discarded by soldiers returning home, make ultra high-grade specimens like this SGC 10 GEM MINT few and far between. In fact, the offered example is one of only 4 to reach the top of the SGC grading scale, bypassing the more common 9.5 rating to achieve virtual perfection. Dead-on centered with a central image of pinpoint registration and clear GEM MINT endpoints, it's amazing that this incredible card has survived so many pitfalls to emerge so flawlessly. A throwback to the days when players stuck with one team their entire career, Chipper spend all of his 19 seasons in Atlanta, taking a National League batting title and an NL MVP Award while posting a career .303 batting average. A card that honors a great Hall of Famer as well as our brave soldiers in perfect GEM MINT condition!
