Having announced his retirement in March of 1969, just before the start of the season, Topps went ahead and rode the Mantle gravy train one last time, producing his farewell card in 1969 while he was home on the couch watching the Yankees on WPIX in New York. "The Mick's" final card as an active player is actually in the 1968 Topps set and the offered PSA 9 MINT example is borderline GEM MINT and should be considered among the finest of examples on record at this grade level. Perfectly centered with sharp MINT to GEM MINT corners and edges around a noticeably bold and sufficiently clean obverse for the grade. Importantly, the susceptible yellow-printed reverse shows virtually no advanced traces of chipping. A top choice for any ultra high-grade Set Registry or HOF player collection.
