A defensive specialist behind the plate that also launched 179 round-trippers over 16 seasons, catcher Del Crandall began his career with the Boston Braves. After two years in the military, Crandall rejoined the Braves, who had moved to Milwaukee. The featured zip-up flannel jersey (zipper clasp is missing) was worn by Crandall in 1950 and carries a Horace Partridge label, size 44 swatch, and embroidered "Crandall" swatch inside the collar. A team stitched "50" appears on the inside back tail. Heavy game use is exhibited with dirt staining everywhere; pretty typical of a workhorse catcher from the 1950s. The jersey was signed by Crandall long after his career had ended with highlights inscribed as follows: "1957 World Series Champions, 8x all-star, 4x Gold Glove, 1960 caught Burdette and Spahn no-hitters." A fantastic flannel gamer from a golden age of baseball! LOA from Mile High Card Company with a photo of Crandall signing the jersey.
