Here's a sublime example of “Country” Slaughter's 1956 Topps issue that exhibits virtually perfect centering, precise registration, clean surfaces, and MINT corners, a package strong enough to secure one of 13 spots with none higher on the PSA pop report with a grade of MINT 9. In 1942, he finished second in the NL MVP voting, and in 1946 he finished third, making All-Star appearances and helping the Cardinals to World Series Championships in both seasons.
