Three years had passed since the allied forced declared victory in World War II and everyday life for Americans, as well as people around the world, was still not quite back to normal but getting closer with each passing day. One significant event that helped restore the American culture to normalcy was the return of baseball cards on a national stage. As the first nationally issued baseball set since the 1941 Playball issue, the 48-card 1948 Bowman baseball series was small in both set and physical size but holds special appeal for the vintage enthusiast. With paper stock available and no longer being diverted to the war effort, this significant set marks the beginning of a golden age in both sportscards and American society in general. As is always the case when a set comes along after a hiatus in the sports card market, many of the cards feature players who had been long established but were making their pasteboard debut, thus technically they are "rookie cards." Offered is a complete set that is ranked as the #3 current finest set on the PSA Set Registry, each card grading at least PSA 8 with four graded PSA 9 MINT (#19 Henrich, 22, 24, and 47 Thomson) with the opening card of the series #1 Elliot, graded PSA 8.5. That leaves PSA 8 examples of some of the most important rookie cards of the decade, including Kiner, Berra, Rizzuto, Spahn, and of course, Stan Musial. An incredible assemblage!
