Graded NM 7 by PSA. In the final week of the 1934 season, Dean took the ball three times and won all three, going the distance each time. His last two starts were shutouts against Cincinnati. The last win gave him 30 victories; he remains as of 2020 the last pitcher to accomplish the feat in the National League. Paul Dean won the second-to-last game, a 6-1 triumph. The victory gave him 19 wins, for a total of 49 for the brothers. For the third straight year, Diz led the league in strikeouts with 195. He had seven saves (saves were not a statistic in those days) and a 2.66 ERA. He was named the Most Valuable Player by both the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and The Sporting News. He was named to The Sporting News Major League All-Star team for the first of three straight years. The Cardinals finished two games ahead of New York to claim their fifth pennant. The featured relic offers a well centered image with deep bold color as well as four strong NM or better corners.
