Graded NM/MT 8 by PSA. An extremely sharp high grade example of one of Ted Williams' most sought after cards. This is an exceptionally vibrant example of this classic 1950's gum card that has become a symbol of sorts in our hobby. Boasting a fresh and clean appearance, with vivid colors, razor-sharp corners, and is centered with a preference to the top border if looking at the card in the intended horizontal format. Although Williams broke into the majors all the way back in 1939, as well as having served two tours of duty in the military, he was still a great hitter at the time of this card's release, evidenced by his .356 season average in 1955. Williams was the last player in Major League Baseball to bat over .400 in a single season, doing so in 1941 with a .406 average. A lifetime .344 hitter, Williams holds the highest career batting average of anyone with 500 or more home runs.
