The offered T206 Christy Mathewson "Dark Cap" variation displays an accurate yet slightly darker registration than usual, especially in the features of Christy's face as well as the depth of the blue and green backdrop. The result is that Christy appears more intense rather than gently smiling as is the norm for this popular issue. The endpoints and edges are more in line with EX to EX+ examples but the final grade is restrained by a slight centering shift toward the left. A very admirable card at this grade level.
