This classic 7 x 9 Lou Gehrig photo from his rookie season was re-introduced to the American public in 1938 as "The Iron Horse" closed in on his 2,000th consecutive game played. Distributed by Wide World Photos, the wire service caption on the reverse is dated 5/23/38. The occasional crease and two unobtrusive edge tears do little to detract from the exceptionally focus image.
