The Tarzan Bread issue, also known as Tarzan Thoro Bread, remains one of the most mysterious and elusive sets of the pre-war era. Thought to have been issued in 1934, next to nothing is known about the manufacturer of the issue, regions of distribution, or why such obscure players were chosen for the subjects. Even scarcer than the cards, perhaps, is this wooden delivery crate, which at one time probably held several loaves of the product and the intriguing cards included within. Measurements are approximately 29 x 13 x 17 and the manufacturer's logo, A. Backus Jr. and Sons Detroit Mich logo and patent registration is stamped into one slat. A truly esoteric and possibly unique items that stokes the imagination!
