Mantle Mantle was only 17-years old when he began his professional career in the Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri (K. O. M.) league with the Independence Yankees in 1949, but just two years later he was playing under the bright lights of Yankee Stadium. The featured item is a program from the 1949 Independence Yankees of the K. O. M. league, signed by Mantle and 11 other members of the team. Signed above his photo, "Mick Mantle", matching the "pre-rookie" signature style of other items we've had in recent years. Several of the pages have come loose within the booklet but none are missing. Other signatures include longtime major leaguers Harry Craft and Lou Skizas. LOA from JSA and PSA/DNA.
