"His crazy legs were gyrating in six directions, all at the same time; he looked like a demented duck" -- Francis Powers, Chicago Daily News sportswriter. A star at the University of Michigan and the fifth pick in the first round of the 1945 NFL draft, wide receiver Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch went on to register a Hall of Fame career over 12 AAFC/NFL seasons. Hirsch earned national notoriety when he dominated the league in 1951, leading the NFL in receptions (66), receiving yards (1,495), yards per catch (22.7), TD's (17), and a league's best 91-yard pass play. His 1,495 receiving yards that season put him more than 600 yards ahead of anyone in the league! Hirsch's final season was in 1957 when he wore this size 44 Sand Knit - Frederick's and Co. gamer for Sid Gillman's Los Angeles Rams. The Fredericks, Sand Knit, and size 44 tag all appear on the front and the jersey numbers show extensive puckering on both the front and back. An autograph of "Crazylegs Hirsh" appears in bold black marker on the front and the jersey is in fantastic condition overall without any team repairs or significant wear. A museum-quality game-used jersey from one of the great receivers of the 50s, with one of the greatest nicknames of all-time as well! Full LOA from JSA for the signature and Sports Investors Authentication for the jersey.
