Though their first baseball series dates back to the 1920s, The Exhibit Supply Co. became one of the largest distributors of trading cards for a generation following World War II. Offered is the metal and wood vending machine that distributed the postcard sized Exhibit pasteboards. A massive piece that catches the eye of any would-be collector ready to plunk down their money for their favorite athlete, actor, or other non-sports subject, the machine is a little over 36" in height with a decorative piece on top, about 10" and 18" at its widest point. The display window touts possible card of both baseball players and movie cowboy actors, though most collectors likely preferred a top notch example of Mantle. Mays, or Jackie Robinson to emerge from inside the machine. The machine comes complete with wiring that makes the top part light up and the key to open the doors. Without putting it through the rigors of testing, it appears to be functional and the condition is pretty impressive save for some light scratches to the wood. A wonderful piece from a time long past.
