Artist Ryan Smith put his talents to use by taking overproduced and essentially worthless “junk era” cards and created mosaics of baseball's most important cards. Featured here is a tremendous rendition of the sport's most iconic post-war rookie card issue, the 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle card. Assorted faces from baseball cards are used to make up the flesh tones on Mantle's face and arm, with white cards bearing player statistics making up the border, a combination of blue and white Donruss cards portraying the partly cloudy sky and uniform, and 1990's Topps cards creating Mantle's golden bat. The piece measures approximately 36" x 29" framed. A phenomenal piece of artwork, painstakingly planned and implemented wonderfully!
