Topps may have been only a fledgling company trying to break into the baseball card market, but they went in knowing the terrain and had a plan for success. In an attempt to keep collectors interested during the twilight of the season, Topps loaded up their high-number series with Yankees, Dodgers, and rookies, many of which would go on to Hall of Famer careers. Pee Wee Reese is one of those cards in the final series and the offered specimen is a true marvel that has earned the grade of PSA 9, one of only 5 to earn such a designation with just a single example graded higher. The huge majority of cards from this series are woefully off-center and this beauty of Reese does exhibit a benign centering preference toward the right edge, but it's within the specifications outlined by PSA and negligible when you consider the almost flawless depiction of Reese, with corners that border on GEM MINT status. A world-class card that any set-builder with a top-ranked set should pay close attention to.
