Inscribed boldly in blue ball point pen on the sweet-spot of an OAL (Harridge) baseball is an early-career Mickey Mantle signature. Well-centered between the stitches with a signature that rates easily at an "7-8" for quality, the offered specimen shows the smaller, less pointed loops of the "M" in his first and last name, a telltale sign that Mantle signed the ball within the first few years of his career, perhaps even during his rookie season. Mantle signed baseballs from the 1960s and up are not hard to find, but a sweet-spot OAL ball with a vintage signature that identifies it as from the early to mid 1950s is truly rare and special. A must have for any fanatic of "The Commerce Comet." LOA from PSA/DNA.
