Acting as Babe Ruth's personal agent (considered to be the first agent in professional sports), Christy Walsh was responsible for sending tokens of appreciation to various workers that took care of his prized superstar. The featured item is quite a token; a single-signed OAL (Johnson) Babe Ruth baseball that was game-used in the 1923 World Series. The ball is screwed into and sits atop a curved base so that it can be properly displayed, imprinted on the top is "Compliments of Christy Walsh" and the recipient's name "V. L. Bedell", while "Ball Used in World Series 1923 Giants vs. Yankees" is printed on the side. The lightly shallacked ball has darken with age but the signature and inscription from Ruth is as clear as can be;" To V. L. Bedell Thanks for a wonderful trip From Babe Ruth 1924." Full LOA from JSA.
