Tiger Woods is often referred to as the modern day Bobby Jones, and with good reason. Jones rose to superstardom at a young age to become the only athlete to win the sport's grand slam, then retired from professional play at the youthful age of 28 to concentrate on his law practice. Before tearing up the pro circuit, Jones, like Woods, was the world's premiere amatur golfer, winning virtually every amateur tournament he entered and even beat notable Hall of Fame golfers like Walter Hagen and Gene Sarazen while playing in professional tournaments as an amateur. Jones founded the Augusta National Golf Club, and co-founded the Masters Tournament. Several different issue of golf cards were produced abroad in the 1920s and 1930s, but one of the most celebrated issues was the 1926 Lambert & Butler "Who's Who in Sport" series, with R. T. "Bobby" Jones the key card of the series. Featured here is a thoroughly intoxicating PSA 9 MINT specimen that is matched by just 5 others at the MINT level with one graded higher. A perfectly delivered black and white image of the golfing prodigy is surrounded by a pack-fresh white border that delivers virtually perfect centering, with two MINT and two GEM MINT corners. The reverse has a deeply printed black bio on a bone-white canvas that is so clean and fresh that it has to be seen in person to be believed. An incredible, high-profile specimen that is approaching a century in age but looks like it was produced yesterday!
