Not including rookie cards and a handful of specialty issues that have risen to prominence (T206 Wagner, 1933 Lajoie, etc...), there are few vintage examples that carry the popularity of the 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle card. The combination of the card's incredible aesthetics and the fact that it was issued during "The Mick's" triple crown season (.353 with 52 HRs and 130 RBI) make it one of the most collectible post-war vintage cards of a non-rookie issue. Graced with very accurate centering, four consistent NM/MT corners, and a pleasing rough cut on the bottom horizontal edge, this is certainly one of the nicer '56 Topps Mantle PSA 8's you will ever come across and unquestionably PSA Set Registry worthy. Mick's portrait is impressively registered, with excellent color and contrast and no traces of stray print whatsoever. The famed but typically crude in-action shot to the left is even more remarkable, as "The Mick" takes on a few fans that are attempting to thwart his home run stealing catch. The gray-backed reverse ids problem-free and up to the task of the PSA 8 grade. In short, a high-end PSA 8 NM/MT specimen of one of the Mick's most celebrated issues.
