Basketball Hall of Famer rookie cards from the 1970s and 1980s, led by Michael Jordan's wonderful 1986 Fleer issue, is skyrocketing in value as of late. One of the key cards that are quickly becoming out of reach in high grade is the 1972 Topps debut card of "Dr. J" Julius Erving, and deservedly so. One of the first basketball superstars to elevate his game above the rim, Erving made his cardboard introduction during a time when basketball cards were way in the rearview mirror to baseball cards in terms of popularity with far fewer examples surviving in high grade like the PSA 8 example offered here. The centering here is very admirable, and while the reverse is shifted toward the right, it's far better than most and upholds the standards for the NM/MT grade. And most collectors are wary of the infamous white print circle that resides under "Dr. J's" left elbow on most cards, but not here. Solid NM/MT to MINT corners and edges surround a sun-soaked yellow background that has barely picked up any traces of stray print, another common malady that invariably prevents this level of greatness. If you've been chasing after a top-notch specimen of "The Doctor's" rookie card, this PSA 8 example is the one to catch!
