Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Offered is 1 of just 6 copies of this card with none having been graded at a higher level! The featured card is amongst the top .002% of all graded examples. Not only is the featured card the most difficult card from the ever elusive (in high grade) 1962 Topps release but it is the opinion of this auctioneer that it is the most difficult high grade card of any regular issue Topps card from the entire decade of the 1960's. Roger Maris had just slugged 61 Home Runs in the 1961 season besting the immortal mark of 60 HR's by Babe Ruth in 1927. Issued at the very front end of the 1962 Topps release, the offered card has survived a plethora of pitfalls and ultimately thrived as one of the six copies that have garnered the ultimate grade of MINT 9 by PSA. Four utterly flawless corners stand at the ready as if they alone have thwarted off any and all combatants to the offered pasteboards MINT crown. As well, the surface is awash in a precious and impressive layer of original gloss that elevates the featured collectible. The centering is flawlessly astute and gives breadth to the deep bold colors of the card that are nearly always plagued by print in the deep black background. The image quality is above reproach with the aforementioned dark background posing as the perfect backdrop to Roger's immense swinging follow through and the white pinstriped Yankee home jersey. The reverse is a perfectly centered rendition of stark gray with a perfectly inked bio placed upon it. In conclusion, a card that must be given due consideration and one that belongs in the very finest of holdings!
