When the 1986 Fleer basketball series was released, the NBA was loaded with young, up-and-coming superstars; likely the incentive for Fleer to get back into a market that had been tried and failed many times over the decades. There's no better indicator of this than the 1986 Fleer sticker series, a set of 11 in which five are "rookie" subjects. One of them is "Akeem" Olajuwon, a dominant big man that was selected #1 in the draft, two places ahead of Michael Jordan. Only 57 stickers out of over 3,000 graded by PSA have earned a GEM MINT assessment, and the featured sticker wears it with pride. The centering is close to perfect, the corners are bonafide GEM MINT, and the central image of Olajuwon extending his right arm to deny Magic Johnson is incredibly sharp. A must-have for any set-builder looking to break into the upper ranks of the PSA Set Registry.
