Though his nickname of "Double X" certainly seemed practical, his broad shoulders and ability to rocket pitches over the fence made "The Beast" a more appropriate moniker. Here is beastly Jimmie Foxx, holding his weapon responsible for over 500 career homers on this 1941 Play Ball card. Graded PSA 8, the close to perfect centering and staunch NM/MT endpoints take a back seat to that mesmerizing assortment of color, with yellow, green, orange, brown, blue, and salmon all appearing on the surface. A tremendous high-grade example from a truly iconic pre-war set.
