It seems as if the Topps company was so happy to finally have Ted Williams under contract for the 1954 set that they wanted to make up for lost time, bookending "The Splendid Splinter" as the first and last card of the series. Here's Ted on the final card of the collection, a PSA 6 example that offers a bright image bursting with bold color to combat the centering shift toward the upper right.
