Mickey Mantle was included in the high-number series of the inaugural 1952 Topps set and Willie Mays took his turn in the scarcer final series for the 1953 Topps set, and a short-print at that, despite not playing the entire season due to military service. The offered example has been graded NM 7 by PSA and presents an incredible artist's depiction of "The Say Hey Kid" that is second to none, well-focused with a luminous factory gloss that protects the surface. The top two corners could be at home on a higher-graded specimen, helping to offset the centering bias toward the right edge, with minimal chipping on the black edges and a largely problem-free reverse. Given the tremendous popularity of Willie Mays, this is some can't-miss cardboard!
