The '73 Topps issue is significant in that it was the last time that Topps issued cards in series format, a practice that resulted in scarce high-number cards over the years. Starting with the 1974 set, Topps released the set in its entirety at the beginning of the year, giving collectors a chance at every card in the set with each pack.
