One of the most important rookie cards in the star-studded 1949 Bowman release comes in the form of Edwin "Duke" Snider, the formidable patroller of the center-field grounds in Brooklyn. While the Bronx had Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays was firmly installed in Manhattan, Brooklynites were more than happy with the Duke of Flatbush, who would deliver 40 or more home runs for the Dodgers in five consecutive seasons en route to a Cooperstown enshrinement. The offered example has been properly evaluated by Beckett Vintage Grading services at the NM/MT 8 level, displaying with expert centering, a crisply detailed image set against a problem-free backdrop, and corners that easily meet the requirements for the opined grade. A stalwart example of this rookie Hall of Famer, from the tough high-number series of the celebrated 1949 Bowman issue.
