Having established himself as the finest hitter in all of baseball, Ty Cobb was no stranger to the basepaths, always ready to steal a base, stretch a double into a triple, and cut you up with his spikes n the slide if need be. Here's "The Georgia Peach" in a wonderful original type I photo, measuring approximately 8 1/2" x 3 3/4" as he kicks up a cloud of dirt to avoid the tag. The expression on Cobb's face, as he attempts to take the base, is a perfect indicator of the toughness and competitive spirit of the baseball legend. The photo is not stamped as to credit the photographer but the style closely resembles shots by Charles Conlin and may even be his handiwork. There aren't many original images of Cobb in action like this one.
