The 1966-1967 San Francisco Warriors, led by All-World scorer Rick Barry, finished the regular season with a record of 44-37, then went on a torrid run that landed them in the NBA Championship, bowing to the Philadelphia 76ers in six games. But perhaps the toughest opponent the Warriors faced on the court that season was … their own uniforms! Presented is the game-used jersey of Warriors’ guard Al Attles from that storybook season. Unbelievably rare, this unique style jersey was worn for just half of the 1966-1967 season as the chenille absorbed sweat, which caused the fabric to droop, chaffed the players’ chests and backs, and was altogether too heavy. On the left front tail is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s size 42 tag with wash instructions. Attached is a “+3” Body” flag tag written in black ballpoint pen. Across the front is “The CITY” in yellow Chenille fabric. On front is player number “16” done in a circle with a bridge background in yellow Chenille fabric. On back is a cable car display, with player number “16” in yellow, white, and blue Chenille fabric. The jersey shows solid but not excessive wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind. This style of jersey is so revered that a recent auction for a Nate Thurman jersey of the same cable car style sold for $27,000. For the avid collector of game-used garments, this would indeed make a fine addition. LOA from Lou Lampson, Mile High Card Co.
