After a 25 year layoff, Fleer returned to the basketball card market with the 132-card red, white, and blue bordered set in 1986. It was the first nationwide distribution of basketball cards since Topps suspended operations following the 1981-1982 season. Due to the four year gap, players breaking into the league after 1982 had to wait until 1986 to make their pasteboard debut, with "rookie" cards of Ewing, Olajuwon, Barkley, Malone, Mullins, Worthy, and of course, Michael Jordan leading the way. It wasn't until the basketball boom of the early 90's, inspired by the 1992 Olympics "Dream Team" and the popularity of "Air" Jordan that basketball cards took center stage among collectors. Once a discarded afterthought, the 1986 Fleer set became the gold standard for modern day card collectors. Presented is a complete 1986 Fleer set with every card graded MINT PSA 9. As with many inaugural issues, the cards from the 1986 Fleer set are often found with poor centering and wax stains, but all you'll find here is one MINT specimen after another!
