Mile High Card Company December Auction, led by High Grade T206 Set and 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth PSA 8 NM - MT, Sets Several New Sales Records


CASTLE ROCK, CO - Mile High Card Company has done it again, finishing off 2022 with another incredible December auction that was headlined by a 1909-11 T206 Complete Set With An Amazing 5.20 GPA All SGC Graded that sold for $366,417 and a 1933 Goudey #144 Babe Ruth PSA 8 NM/MT MBA Gold that brought in $483,638. “It was a great event to close out the year, but we’ve got even bigger plans for 2023” said MHCC CEO and President Brian Drent.

A 1962 Mars Attacks #1 The Invasion Begins PSA 8 NM-MT set a new world record with a sale price of $19,785 and a 1969 Topps #20 John Havlicek PSA 9 MINT also destroyed the previous record sale with the hammer dropping at $18,404, while a 2014 Panini Flawless Momentous Autograph Memorabilia #MA-SC Stephen Curry 4/20 PSA 10 GEM MINT 10 AUTO brought down an impressive $9,372 and a 2007 O-Pee-Chee Premier Autograph Trios Gretzky/Howe/Orr 31/35 PSA 9 MINT AUTO 9 MINT hauled in an amazing $6,399.

Two high-profile collections were broken up and sold off as individual lots; a 1953 Bowman Color Complete Set #7 On PSA Set Registry 7.981 GPA that brought an aggregate total of $121,248, and a 1954 Topps Complete Set Completely PSA Graded With An Amazing 9.098 GPA, #3 On Current Finest On PSA Set Registry with sales adding up to $480,081. The 1953 Bowman Color set was led by #59 Mickey Mantle PSA 8 NM-MT that brought in $14,907, while the 1954 Topps Set featured a #10 Jackie Robinson PSA 9 MINT that brought down a world-record price of $76,438, 94 Ernie Banks PSA 8 NM-MT that found a new home at $36,451, 128 Hank Aaron PSA 8 NM-MT that received a winning bid of $57,931 and 1954 Topps #130 Hank Bauer PSA 9 MINT, destroying the highest previous price with a sale at $10,309. A 1954 Topps #8 Bobby Young PSA 9 MINT that last sold in 2017 for $1,045 found a new home for $7,745 and a 1954 Topps #246 Howie Fox PSA 9 MINT that last sold for $645 went for $7,040. Other elite sets featured in the spring auction were a 1933 Goudey Complete Set With PSA Graded Cards selling for $74,023, 1954 Topps Baseball Complete Set with Many PSA Graded bringing in $27,136, and a 1984-85 Star Co. Complete Set In Original Bags Includes Michael Jordan #101 that hauled in $16,676.

Unopened material continues to be a Mile High Card Company hallmark, with a 2012-13 Panini Prizm Basketball Exceptionally Rare Factory Sealed Case With (12) Unopened Boxes BBCE Possible Rookies of Davis, Leonard, Irving, Thompson, Green, Lillard, Butler, Beal, receiving $83,764 after heavy bidding, and an Exceptionally Rare 1967 Topps Wacky Packages Unopened Wax Box BBCE taking down $64,661, topping the list that includes a 1974 Topps Baseball Unopened Wax Box BBCE selling for $13,501, 1977 Topps Baseball Unopened Cello Box BBCE and 1977 Topps Baseball Unopened Wax Box BBCE hauling in $7,718 and $6,179 respectively, 2001 Bowman Chrome Baseball Unopened Hobby Box Lot of 10 selling for $8,718, 1973 Topps Exceptionally Rare Jumbo Wax Football Unopened Box (24 - 15 Cent Packs) The Only Known Full Box BBCE reaching $55,535, 1973 Topps Football Unopened Wax Box (36 - 10 Cent Packs) BBCE going for $47,629, and 1985 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Unopened Series 1 Wax Box BBCE changing hands at $20,464.
