Mile High Card Company Fall Auction Closes to Heavy Action and Brings in Top Prices
Castle Rock, CO – The final catalog auction of 2024 for Mile High Card Company, one of the company’s largest events with 2,250 lots, closed on Thursday, December 12th while posting some incredible prices realized. “This auction confirms that the industry is still going strong,” said MHCC President and CEO Brian Drent, “and what we have in store for 2025 will show why we are an industry-leading auction house.” Headlining this deep auction was a 1951 Bowman #305 Willie Mays PSA 8 NM-MT - Only 9 Copies Graded Higher, capturing $190,640, a 1958 Topps #62 Jim Brown PSA 8.5 NM-MT+ that saw a sale of $220,692 after very spirited bidding, a 1961 Topps #71 Jim Brown PSA 10 GEM MINT, The Only PSA 10, that was very hotly contested and closed at $151,827, as well as a 1967 Topps Baseball Master Set #4 On The PSA Set Registry with 9.007 PSA that was broken up and sold for an aggregate sum of $188,283.
Other featured items were an Exceptionally Rare 1911 Broad Leaf Cigarettes T206 Cy Young Glove Shows SGC 3 VG that sold for $29,967, 1912 Miners Extra T227 Ty Cobb SGC 1.5 FR destroying the previous record price with a sale of $8,618, 1913-15 W530 Pinkerton Ty Cobb Blank Back PSA 2 GD fetching $11,403, 1921 E121 American Caramel "Babe" Ruth SGC 4.5 VG-EX bringing down $45,370, 1921 Exhibits George H. "Babe" Ruth PSA 3 VG selling for $13,172, 1922 W573 Babe Ruth Hand Cut SGC 5 EX hammering at $11,306, 1955 Topps #123 Sandy Koufax PSA 8 NM-MT that received strong attention before landing at $24,271, 1958 Topps #23 Bill Tuttle Yellow Name PSA 8 NM-MT, which nearly doubled the previous world-record price with a sale of $9,481, 1957 Topps #17 Bob Cousy PSA 8 NM-MT selling for $24,068, 1961 Fleer #8 Wilt Chamberlain PSA 8 NM-MT that changed hands for $28,778, 1961 Fleer #47 Wilt Chamberlain In Action PSA 9 MINT grabbing $19,303, 1969 Topps #25 Lew Alcindor PSA 8 NM-MT, another card with strong bidding that sold for $25,902, 1970 Topps #123 Pete Maravich PSA 9 MINT selling for $13,714, 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan PSA 9 MINT, an industry flagship, that attained a sale of $17,508, 1958 Topps #62 Jim Brown PSA 8 NM-MT that took in $24,639, 1959 Topps #1 Johnny Unitas PSA 9 MINT selling for $16,868, 1965 Topps #122 Joe Namath PSA 8 NM-MT bringing down $40,162, and an Astoundingly Rare 1932 U.S. Caramel William McKinley SGC 3 VG Uncanceled And Unpunched, one of the most elusive non-sports cards in existence, that sold for $101,508, breaking the all-time record of $96,000, which was for an example graded SGC 5 EX.

Other notable items included an Outstanding 1915 Boston Red Sox World Champions Pitching Staff Type I Photo Underwood & Underwood Featuring Babe Ruth In Rookie Year selling for $35,864, and a 1983 Wayne Gretzky Edmonton Oilers Campbell Conference All-Star Game Used Jersey Mears A10 fetching $40,659.
