Offered here is a spectacularly visual large format season schedule that offers both the "At Home" as well as the abroad schedules for the 1892 Cleveland Spiders. The upper two-thirds of the collectible offer a spectacular aesthetic ensemble within the 15-photo team composite, wherein portraits of the ballplayers are shown intermingled with the stylized caption, “Cleveland Base Ball Club – Season of 1892.” Chief among the pictured individuals is Hall of Famer Cy Young, revealed here as a young man in his second full professional season. Each of the teams player’s photograph has been identified in black lettering on this 20” x 13” display artifact. A fine-print copyright line at the lower edge of the photographic portion : “National Photo Eng Co..” In our research we have uncovered that we believe the piece originally employed a metal hanger which has since been removed as it appears to be be slightly trimmed on the top edge. The item is offered in its original condition with a great deal of damage to the surface of the item, The most noticeable damage is the 1" square paper loss on the top center. Fortunately the images of most players are presentable and most notably the image of Cy Young is untouched. The overall presentation quality is Poor to Good which could possibly be improved if the winning bidder chooses to utilize the services of a conservator. During our due research of the item, we are aware of its recent sale but other than that do not know of another copy of this exceptionally rare advertising schedule.
