While the sight of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb standing at the plate may not have earned much attention when this Wolverine News Co. postcard was printed in 1907, "The Georgia Peach" would cement his legacy in baseball history by the time his long and storied career was done. Having shown some promise as a part-time player in his first two seasons, Cobb assumed the role of starter in 1907 and led the American League with 212 hits, 115 RBI, 53 stolen bases, and a .350 batting average, his first of what would be 12 batting titles over the next 13 seasons. As one of the most elusive issues that feature Cobb, along with a strong case that this can be considered a rookie card, make the Wolverine News Cobb an amazing find for any world-class set. Though modestly graded due to the writing and coloration on the reverse, the image of Cobb and the overall strength of the perimeter are very impressive and well above the assessed grade. A wonderful and rare vintage piece!
