Though it's not a very well-known issue of "The Christian Gentleman", advanced collectors are always looking to get their hands on the 1909 Dockman & Sons E92 example of Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson. In addition to being one of the most elusive issues ever produced of the legendary hurler, (misspelled Matthewson on the card), the card is popular among vintage enthusiasts for its wonderful horizontal image of "Big Six" throwing against a wonderfully pigmented backdrop of green, yellow, orange, and blue. The featured card has earned the lofty grade of SGC 7 NM, an assessment surpassed by just one example at PSA and one example at SGC. While the centering appears to be a few degrees to the right of dead center, the real eye-grabber here is the nearly perfect preservation of the corners, each coming to a perfect point and projecting far superior to the grade. Even the boldness of the white borders shows the card's uncanny freshness and accentuates the colors magnificently. The reverse is equally well-delivered with no significant issues to report. If you're a collector of Hall of Famers and want something beautiful that's a little out of the mainstream, here it is!
