Offered is an exceptionally scarce copy of a signed first edition of The National Game by Alfred H. Spink (copyright 1910, published by National Game Publishing Co, 410 pages). This is the baseball book of the 1910 era, presenting a complete history of the game, with literally hundreds of photographs. This book is considered by many to the finest and most substantial of all early historical baseball books. This book is unparalleled in quality, and a prize for any baseball library or collection. This particular volume was given as a personal gift by A.H.Spink to E.D. Anderson. The front flyleaf has W.H. Spink's bookplate. The author beautifully inscribes the second flyleaf page as follows: " With kindest and best wishes of the author, Sept. 25, 1913" The offered book some moderate to accelerated condition issues with a loose binding as well as some minor staining of the front and back pages with red from the hard cover.
