Offered is without question one of Babe Ruth's rarest cards issued during his playing days. Similar to the Kashin release of the same year comes this 5 x 7 premium photo that offers the hulking slugger at the plate in the same pose used in the much more common release, but this time it comes on a much thicker stock and is infinitely much more visually appealing. Given the size and fragile nature of this piece, which would also be classified as a TYPE 1 photograph, its state of preservation is remarkable. When viewed at an angle the surface glint from its silver bromide processing is readily detectable. A facsimile Babe Ruth “autograph” has been embedded in the image at the bottom right above the printed "New York American League." To date there are extremely few of these cards known to exist with the offered card being 1 of just 3 specimens ever graded by PSA. The card has been assessed the grade of AUTHENTIC due to several negligible offenses, first off the card displays two small nearly undetectable pinholes at the top as well as two slight tears on the sides of the card that easily blend into the borders. As well the reverse of the card displays a strip of missing paper at the top the result of having been mounted in an album, and there is a name and address stamped on the reverse. It should be noted that the card presents far in advance of what one would most usually associate with a grade of AUTHENTIC. A terrifically rare card of the biggest name in our hobby, Babe Ruth!
