Despite 37-year old Dizzy Dean on the squad, the 1947 St. Louis Browns were a hapless bunch, finishing with a 59-95 record, good for last place in the American League. Surviving over 60 years and presented in solid though clearly worn condition, this game-used 1947 St. Louis Browns flannel jersey of three time AL RBI leader Vern Stephens is sure to be at the top of the standings in any jersey collection. The vintage Rawlings label and size 44 tag appear inside the color, with a brown, cursive stitched “Stephens 47” on the front left tail. The letters on the front and number on the reverse have been expertly re-applied but the zipper functions properly and the jersey exhibits excellent game use with set-in dirt stains covering the front and back surface. An incredible baseball artifact from the early days of the post-war era in nice condition! LOA from Mile High Card Co.
