Here's a great game-used jersey that dates back to the 1950's, when the Chicago Cardinals tried unsuccessfully to compete with the beloved Bears to capture the loyalty of thje Windy City fans. Despite the effort, the Cards never did gain acceptance in Chicago and relocated in 1960 to St. Louis. This vintage jersey was worn by quarterback Jim Hardy (1950), defensive back S.J. Whitman (1951-1953), and/or halfback Jimmy Sears (1954-1958). Amazing game use is evident, with severe dirt staining and several team repairs and fabric breaches on the front and back. Inside the tail is the stitched manufacturer's tag, and we are uncertain as to the company because of a team repair but appears to read "O'Shea" with blue numbered "42" size tag in old style font. Front and back numbers are tackle twill stitched, and faded, black lettering that appears to read "Roselle C101" has been stamped twice inside the jersey tail, once inside the back collar, and once on the outside of the tail.
