Instantly recognized as one of the flagship pieces to any postwar collection and arguably the most important card ever issued by the Bowman company, presented is a very visually appealing 1951 rookie card of Mickey Mantle that provides great value at this grade level. From a horizontal viewpoint, the example shows a moderate bias toward the bottom edge, completely tolerable when you factor in how sharp the perimeter is as well as the color and registration of Mantle's image, both of which clearly transcend an SGC 55 VG/EX+ 4.5 grade. The front surface is unusually bright and well preserved at this grade level, presenting more in line with EX/MT and even NM examples. The left and top edges offer up a pronounced rough cut and the reverse is problem free with sharp print on a slate gray surface. If you're building a set or always wanted to treat yourself to a strong, mid-grade Mantle RC, this is one that you should certainly be making a run at.
