Mile High Card Company has always placed a great deal of importance on hobby history and for those that came before us, so we are exceptionally pleased to be able to offer this exceptional item. Offered is a 1953 edition of the American Card Catalog signed by legendary card-collecting pioneer Jefferson R. Burdick. Burdick is universally recognized as the "Father of Card Collecting." His American Card Catalog was the first serious attempt to document and categorize cards for collectors. It was the American Card Catalog which assigned to such sets as as T206 and R319 the catalog reference numbers still in use today. Burdick spent the last twenty years of his life organizing and mounting his vast collection in albums for permanent display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He died in 1963, within months of completing this lifelong project, and his collection is permanently housed as one of the most famous collections at the Met. This ACC is boldly signed and inscribed on the title page by this card-collecting legend. Burdick writes "To Bob Hendricks, with best wishes, J.R. Burdick, March 1953." The catalog itself is also a great rarity that would be a substantial prize signed or unsigned. The signature and inscription in the catalog are fairly uniform and grade "8" overall. The catalog (5.5 x 8.75 inches) is complete, presents beautifully, and is in technically Vg condition. An item that comes with a strong recommendation as it may be some time before another is ever offered.
