Still working his way into superstar form after completing his first full season as Joe DiMaggio's replacement with the New York Yankees, Mickey Mantle appears to be larger than life on this SGC 96 MINT 9 graded card from the famed 1953 Bowman Color issue, one of the most popular pasteboards ever produced of "The Commerce Comet." Three of the four endpoints can certainly stake a claim for GEM MINT status with the fourth MINT corner and the slightest of centering variances toward the right being the only noticeable characteristics that don't qualify as GEM MINT. The surface is immaculate, protected by a fresh layer of reflective gloss that accentuates the eye-appealing convergence of color. The reverse is splendidly printed with a deep black bio set against the cream and red stock of Bowman's '53 release. An electrifying card offered at the very height of the MINT grade.
