Many collectors of unopened material liken a 1957 Topps basketball unopened pack to that of the 1952 Topps baseball series, both being the inaugural offering of their genre and containing many highly-coveted issues, headlined by the Bill Russell rookie card and the first Mickey Mantle Topps card, respectively. While the coveted 1952 Topps baseball high numbers are known for having centering issues, that pales in comparison to the framing issues of the entire 1957 basketball series. The featured unopened five-cent wax pack is graded PSA 7 and is absolutely fantastic, with the taut wax covering retaining all of its original color. Topps learned their lesson when they overproduced the 1952 Topps baseball series, sending cases of unwanted product to a watery grave. They were much more cost-conscious when they rolled out their inaugural basketball series and packs such as the one featured here are far more scarce. If you're a collector of unopened material, this beauty will be one of the rarest gems!
