Unlike the portrait shots in the 1952 and 1953 sets, Topps offered a real photo close-up of Mickey Mantle in the 1958 series. With a Triple Crown season already under his belt, Mantle followed up with 34 dingers and a career best .365 batting average. This 1958 Topps Mickey Mantle card shows a well-registered image of "The Commerce Comet" supported by a glowing orange background and blue nameplate that is unblemished. Corners that seem closer to MINT complement the glossy obverse and near perfect centering while the back of the card is extremely clean and bold with no surface imperfections. A tremendous Mantle card that can rival any in its class, and maybe some graded even higher.
