Offered is a stunning and absolutely complete uniform of the Milwaukee Braves Roy McMillan. The 5-foot-11-inch, 164-pound Cincinnati Reds shortstop whose highest season batting average was .272, graced the cover of the September 9, 1957, Sports Illustrated, an honor usually reserved for athletes with names like Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams. It was not a fluke. McMillan, in his ten years with the Reds (1951-1960), had earned the reputation of being the best defensive shortstop in the major leagues and the title “Mr. Shortstop.” Included in this group is a terrific 1964 Road Jersey which is autographed underneath the number eleven is tagged as a size 40 with the year tag inside the right hem of tail of the jersey as set 1 1964, as well there is a pair of pants also tagged set 1 1964 and carrying a size of 34. the ensemble also includes a hat which is sized as a 6 7/8" and is autographed underneath the bill of the hat. Also included are the stirrups as well as a undershirt (with a black marker number 11 at the back collar) and even the half turtle neck for colder weather. A terrific offering that comes in amazing condition. LOA PSA/DNA for the autographs on the jersey and the hat as well as an LOA from Mile High Card Co. NOTE: Added after the catalog had shipped is a Roy McMillan signed check graded MINT 9 by PSA/DNA.
